Journal (notebook), 1771.

Journal, 1771 Nov. 5 - Dec. 31, of the journey Wight made from Pensacola, Fla., to the Upper Creek Indian nation and back. He recorded aspects of Indian religion, diet, livestock and crop raising, social customs, and the tribal meeting at Tuckabatchee (the "capital" of the upper Creeks) and at Tallassee, both now located in Alabama. He noted the actions and location of the home of Mr. Cornell, who helped Wight contact the Creeks. Wight also discussed the physical terrain, noting streams, rivers, arable land, wood thickets, and other aspects of the countryside. Wight discussed with the Creeks a system to allow only the soldiers who had passes from the Governor General free passage through Creek territory.
